Mage guide
Mage introduction
We all know mages one way or another. Some even thought becoming one after they saw a movie with Merlin in it or something else. Now is you chance...in Wartune. From all classes, the difference between the mages roles are very different. If you look closely you namely see 4 different mage classes: Attacking mage, Healing mage, Crit mage and hybrid. Attacking mages mostly depend on their magical attacks and can do serious damage to a group. Healing mages heal and support the group and can be critical in several multiplayer dungeons and events. Crit mages mostly depends on their magical attacks like attacking mages but they also depend on their critical damage, just like archers do. Hybrids are rare because they usually fall behind in the long run. Especially later when they reach a higher level they decide to buy a second skill tree so that they can change into the mage needed for the situation. All on all the mage class is the most flexibel of the 3 classes.
Mage build
Does the difference in mages also require different builds? In some things yes and in some ways no. The refinement will be the same but astrals and gemming might be slightly different depending on the mage you want to be. Let's start with the refining part:
Refining: As mage you depends on your magic attacks and your defense so that you don't die. Just as in the knight build guide on this site, you should focus on the general groups only then for mages. The most important one is Intelligence since that raises your magic attack. Use defense, armor and endurance to boost your other important attributes but don't lose focus on your class.
Gemming: Here it is important what you want to be as mage. Focus your gemming for MATK, MDEF and PDEF. For crit mages you can swap some defensive gems for crit gems. However, for crit mages i recommand to concentrate more on defense in the academy since you don't have the defensive boost for gemming.
Astrals: Here it does matter what kind of mage you are because the choices are so wide. I will explain per class what is essential, recommandable and optional.
Attacking mage, healing mage and Hybrid:
Enhanced Will destroyer: It disables crit but boosts your normal attack (recommandable)
Pristine Mysticallity: Increases MATK (Essential)
Pristine Fortitude: Increase PDEF (Essential)
Pristine Willpower: Increase MDEF (Essential)
Refined Goddess Blessing: Reduces damage received
For the attacking mage you can leave out the Will destroyer and replace it for Sniper's edge and you can take out Goddess blessing for Determination, which increases your base crit damage.
Skills
Like I said before there are two very different skillsets. The upper part is pure for attacking and the lower one is pure for healing. However it is advised to have a decent attacking skill no matter which way you want to go. It's essential for World bosses and other events. Rain of fire, Meteoor and damnation are recommanded.
